Google are going to try to improve searches by using a new algorithm which they have named Caffeine. Its promise is to improve both the speed and the quality of searches and it was released on June 8th. When a change like this comes it can cause a lot of worry among those who depend on SEO to promote their web content. So what kind of effect will Google Caffeine have on SEO? Is the drawing board going to be calling us all back?
Well for the moment at least, things are looking bright. There have not been any really noticeable changes to how things are showing up in the search engines so far and Google Caffeine has actually been up and running for more than a week now. There haven’t been any stories about people who were at the top of the search engines, suddenly disappearing off the page. This does not mean of course that Google Caffeine will not have an eventual impact on SEO, but just not a revolutionary one.
The main aim of Google and why they have always been so successful is because they have always been able to provide quality content for those searching for particular items in their search engines and they are continually trying to make changes to ensure this happens. If they don’t stay on top of this a new search engine could come along and knock them off their perch. Google are getting better all the time and the lesson for the rest of us is that we should make quality of our content more important than SEO. This current change might not have caused too much of a stir but the future of doing well on the web will be all about providing content the visitors actually want. So at the end of the day the main thing to do is to please the visitor instead of the web crawler or algorithm.
